MAIN PURPOSE: Hang seven necklaces apart on radial spines
A necklace hanger drawn from a radiolarian, the glass-skeleton plankton that bristles with radial spines. Seven knob-tipped spines fan over the top half, each holding one chain apart from the next; the boss on the back stands the disc 14 mm off the wall so chains drape behind the spines.

MAIN PURPOSE: Hang hook and hoop earrings across a flat sea fan
An earring display shaped like a sea fan. Gorgonian corals branch in one flat plane across the current to catch food; here the fine flat branches catch earring hooks and hoops, dozens spread out in a single layer you can see through. The stem tab slots into the Haptera holdfast.

MAIN PURPOSE: Stand a 3 mm fan, sign or plate upright
The foot for the Gorgonia fan, after a kelp holdfast, the clutch of branching rootlets that anchors kelp against waves. Seven forked haptera spread to a 112 mm footprint, and the slot from one side to past the centre grips any 3 mm plate upright: the sea fan, an acrylic sign or a printed name plate.

MAIN PURPOSE: Sort pocket things into chambers of growing size
A catch-all built like a foraminifer, the plankton that grows its shell one larger chamber at a time. Four round chambers spiral out from 30 to 64 mm, sharing walls where they meet: coins and pins in the youngest, keys and earbuds in the middle, wallet and glasses in the largest.

MAIN PURPOSE: Hold eight pairs of stud earrings and their backs
A stud earring dish after the abalone shell, which grows a row of breathing pores along its edge. Eight pores run along this one: push stud posts through the six small ones and hang heavier posts in the two large ones at the growing end, then drop the backs into the hollow of the shell.

MAIN PURPOSE: Keep sewing needles and pins in a slim case
A needle case shaped like a diatom. Diatoms live in glass boxes of two halves, one sliding over the other like a pill box; this lanceolate case does the same with a snug telescoping lid, and a central nodule divides sewing needles from pins.

MAIN PURPOSE: Keep a pair of rings in a lattice tower
A keepsake tower for a pair of wedding rings, after the Venus flower basket, a deep sea glass sponge whose lattice often houses a pair of shrimp for life, given in Japan as a symbol of lasting marriage. The rings rest on the inner post behind the diagonal lattice; engrave initials below.

MAIN PURPOSE: Carry small essentials on a key ring
A pocket case for earplugs, a SIM tool and spare coins shaped like a skate egg case, the mermaid’s purse found on beaches. Its four curling horns anchor the egg to seaweed; here one horn eye takes a key ring or lanyard, and the snug lid follows the same outline.

MAIN PURPOSE: Keep keys afloat when they fall in water
A floating key fob after bladderwrack, the seaweed that holds its fronds up to the light with gas-filled bladders. The sealed 34 mm capsule displaces about 58 ml, enough to keep a car key and a couple of others on the surface if they go over the side. The ring handle takes the key ring.

MAIN PURPOSE: Fruit a mushroom grow kit with passive airflow
A fruiting chamber for mushroom grow kits, ventilated like a termite mound. Termites farm fungus inside mounds that breathe by the stack effect; here low slots on the front take in fresh air and high slots at the back let the warm moist air out, so oyster mushrooms get humidity without stale air.
