MAIN PURPOSE: Fan letters and cards apart in seven slots
A letter and card fan drawn from the traveller’s palm, whose leaves open in one flat plane. Seven petioles rise from one root and splay apart, so every letter, card or bill drops into its own V, leans at its own angle and stays readable at a glance.

MAIN PURPOSE: Stand a phone or tablet at three angles by turning it
A phone and tablet stand after the dreikanter, a stone the desert wind grinds into three faces. Rest it on any face and the device stands in the groove of the next: 50 degrees for typing, 60 for video, 70 for reading. Turning the stone is the adjustment.

MAIN PURPOSE: Hang hook and hoop earrings across a flat sea fan
An earring display shaped like a sea fan. Gorgonian corals branch in one flat plane across the current to catch food; here the fine flat branches catch earring hooks and hoops, dozens spread out in a single layer you can see through. The stem tab slots into the Haptera holdfast.

MAIN PURPOSE: Stand a 3 mm fan, sign or plate upright
The foot for the Gorgonia fan, after a kelp holdfast, the clutch of branching rootlets that anchors kelp against waves. Seven forked haptera spread to a 112 mm footprint, and the slot from one side to past the centre grips any 3 mm plate upright: the sea fan, an acrylic sign or a printed name plate.

MAIN PURPOSE: Show autorotation with a printed maple seed
A flying maple key. Press an M4 nut into the seed pocket, drop it from a stair or balcony and it autorotates like a sycamore seed, spinning down slowly on its single wing. Bend the trailing edge slightly to change its spin.

MAIN PURPOSE: Glide a printed seed wing across a room
A hand glider after the seed of the Javan cucumber, the swept crescent wing that inspired early tailless aircraft. Press an M4 nut into the nose pocket for balance, then launch it gently level from a height and it glides in long, slow swings across the room.

MAIN PURPOSE: Lift pet hair from sofas, car seats and beds
A pet hair remover that works like a burr. Burdock hooks catch fur and let go one way only; the edge of this rake is a row of small raked hooks, so a pull across the sofa gathers hair into a roll and a push releases it. Hang it by the hole in the handle.

MAIN PURPOSE: Gather plant stems round a cane without tying
A support for floppy stems that coils like a tendril. Slide the hub down a garden cane to the right height, then feed the stems of peonies, tomatoes or tall herbs into the open end of the spiral and slide them round into its turns. Nothing needs tying, and each stem keeps its own channel.

Castanets from a seed pod. Jacaranda pods are round woody shells that children clack together; print two of these cupped valves, tie them through the stalk holes with cord so the rims face each other, loop the cord over your thumb and snap them with your fingers.

MAIN PURPOSE: Make a vibration-powered walking toy
A bristlebot that walks like a grass seed. A wild oat awn has stiff backward barbs, so every shake ratchets the seed forward; this body stands on eight raked legs, and a coin vibration motor with a CR2032 in its hollow back makes it scurry across the table.
