MAIN PURPOSE: Turn a crank to make cam-driven figures move
The frame of a cam automaton: push an 8 mm dowel through the side holes as a camshaft, thread on three Helix Spindle discs printed at half size, and drop 6 mm dowels through the top holes so they ride on the cams. Turn the crank and the rods bob in sequence, ready to carry paper or printed figures.

Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Give climbing house plants a trunk to root into
A moss pole that behaves like a tree trunk for monsteras and philodendrons. Fill the square tube with damp sphagnum; aerial roots find the vertical slots and grow in. Each segment threads onto a bamboo cane through the floor, so the pillar grows with the plant one section at a time.

MAIN PURPOSE: Read soil layers in a settling jar
A sleeve for the gardener’s soil jar test. Shake a scoop of soil in a 500 ml jar of water, stand it in the sleeve and let it settle into strata as rocks do: sand in a minute, silt in hours, clay over a day. Read each layer through the window against the millimetre marks to find your soil type.

Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Hang seed crystals in a jar of solution
A cap for growing crystals at home. Turn it over a wide jar of hot saturated alum, salt or sugar solution, tie a seed crystal to each of three threads through the holes and let them hang at different depths. The engraved labels keep track of which solution grows which habit.

By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Decorate a pen pot with found treasures
A pencil pot children finish themselves, after the caddisfly larva that builds its case from pebbles, sand and shell. The wall is covered in shallow round sockets: glue in beach pebbles, sea glass, beads or shells found on walks and the pot becomes a record of where they have been.

MAIN PURPOSE: Read the humidity from a real pine cone
A pine cone hygrometer. Cone scales open as air dries and close when it is damp, a movement with no power or electronics. Sit a real cone in the cup against the back board and read how far its scales reach: past the WET marks, past the DRY marks, or in between.

Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Display a photo and LED candle in remembrance
A small shrine for remembering someone. A photo slides into the slot behind the back rail, an LED candle stands on the floor in front, and the overhanging cornice and low sill frame them like a chapel niche, with a short line engraved on the sill.

By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Ring for help from bed with a cord-pulled bell
A bedside bell tower for calling someone. A small brass bell hangs from a skewer through the belfry, and a cord tied to it runs out of the arch to the bed: one tug and it rings through the house. Pour a little gravel in through the arches so the tower stands firm.

MAIN PURPOSE: Find arch and vault shapes with hanging chains
A table for finding arches the way Gaudi did. Print it, turn it over so the perforated deck is on top, hang lengths of ball chain between the holes and set a mirror underneath: every sagging chain is a perfect arch in tension, and the mirror shows it standing upright as a vault in compression.

Preview of Corbel Reach
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium (set)
MAIN PURPOSE: Stack blocks to overhang beyond the table edge
A stacking puzzle about how builders spanned before arches. Each block carries engraved marks at a half, quarter, sixth and eighth of its length: stack eight, each one set back to the next mark, and the top block ends up entirely beyond the edge of the table, held by nothing but balance.
