Preview of Shelf Alibi
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Hide a charging hub among the books
A hollow book for the bookshelf: put a USB charging hub or power bank inside, feed the mains lead out through the back and the charging cables up through the slot in the top. Phones and earbuds charge on the shelf with every cable hidden, and from the room it is just another spine.

By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Stand a tablet behind a row of books
A bookend with a second job: the books stand on the base plate against the upright, and behind it a trough holds a tablet or e-reader leaning on the upright’s back face. The weight of the books keeps the tablet stand steady, so a recipe, a video call or sheet music stands up at the end of the row.

By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Pierce sewing stations for bookbinding
Lay the strip in the fold of an open signature with the back lip hooked over the head of the pages, then push an awl through the seven guide holes. Every signature in the book gets its sewing stations in exactly the same place, so the spine comes out straight. Stations are 40 mm apart.

Preview of Dayface
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Plan the day hour by hour with tokens
A clock face you plan with: each of the twelve wedges is one hour of the working day, and you drop a paper clip, coloured token or folded note into the hours you have promised to something. One look shows how full the day is, and emptying a wedge feels better than ticking a list. Waiting tokens sit in the hub.

Preview of Pivot Drawer
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Add a swing-out drawer under any desk
A pencil tray that screws under the desk top through its corner post and swings out on that single screw: push it back and it disappears under the edge, pull the finger notch and pens, cables and the stapler swing out to you. The post is 2 mm taller than the walls so the rim never rubs the desk.

Preview of Dip Palette
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Hold snacks and dips in one hand
A painter’s palette for the sofa or a standing party: put your thumb through the hole and you can hold crisps, crudités and two dips in one hand, leaving the other free for a drink. Two low walls split it into three wells so salsa, hummus and chips stay apart.

Preview of Seed Tap
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Deseed a pomegranate without the mess
Rest the tray across a mixing bowl, put half a pomegranate cut side down on the grid and beat the skin with a wooden spoon: the seeds drop through the openings into the bowl, the pith stays on the grid and the 60 mm walls catch the red splashes.

MAIN PURPOSE: Wedge and twist open tight jars
Screw the plate under a wall cupboard or shelf with the V facing out: push a stubborn jar lid up into the toothed V until it wedges, then turn the jar with both hands. The narrowing jaw grips lids from 20 to 100 mm, so anyone with weak or sore hands can open jars without a gadget in the drawer.

Preview of Weekday Collar
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Mark the day a jar was opened
Snap the split ring round the neck of a jar of pesto, sauce or baby food the day you open it, turned so that day sits over the label. Days later anyone opening the fridge can read when it was opened, with no pen, no sticky label and no sniff test. Rinse and reuse it on the next jar.

Preview of Bulb Reach
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Change spotlights and test alarms from the floor
Push it onto a broom or mop handle and reach ceiling lights without a ladder: the ribbed cup grips a GU10 or MR16 spotlight to twist it in or out, and the small hub in the middle presses the test button of a smoke alarm. The socket takes handles up to 24 mm. Print it as shown, then turn it over so the floor becomes the top.
