By Krypto
Complexity
Multi-part assembly
MAIN PURPOSE: Keep birthday number candles 0 to 9 and spares for the next party
Number candles are used for ten minutes, then lost before the next birthday. This box keeps all ten digits in their own bays, plus small candles and the lighter, so any age can be spelled on any cake. PARTY is raised on the lid, and a label slot on the front records whose box it is.

By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Pick a pupil's name at random from lolly sticks, then move it to DONE
Teachers draw names from a cup of lolly sticks to pick who answers, but the same few sticks keep coming up. This picker has two sides: PICK and DONE. A name moves across once picked, so everyone gets a turn before anyone gets two. It is fair, and children can see that it is.

Preview of Auricula plant theatre
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Stage small potted plants on two tiers like a Victorian auricula theatre
Victorian gardeners showed off prize auriculas on a tiered stage called an auricula theatre. This one stages a row of small pots in front and a raised row behind, so succulents, violas or herbs on a windowsill each get their own spot in the light.

Preview of Cyanotype sun-print frame
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Press cyanotype paper and objects flat under glass in the sun
A frame for making cyanotypes, the blue sun prints. Coated paper lies on the floor with leaves or lace on top, and a sheet of glass rests on ledges round all four walls to press everything flat. Finger notches front and back lift the glass off without smudging. Ten minutes in the sun, rinse, and the print turns Prussian blue.
