Preview of Harmonograph sand pendulum
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Draw looping Lissajous patterns with a swinging cup of sand
Hang this cup from a Y-shaped string: two strings tied to two hooks that join into one about halfway down. The Y lets it swing at one rate side to side and a different rate front to back, so as it swings and slowly dies down the thin stream of sand traces loops, figure-eights and spirograph flowers on the card underneath. Move the knot higher or lower to change the ratio and the drawing. It is the Victorian harmonograph, made with a cup, a string and a bag of sand.

Preview of Tie-dye spiral plate
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Twist a T-shirt into a spiral and dye six clean colour wedges on a ribbed plate
The classic tie-dye spiral needs the shirt twisted into a flat disc and squirted with one colour per wedge, which usually happens on a soggy bin bag. This plate makes it tidy. Twist the damp shirt round a fork in the centre, then lay it so the six low ribs underneath line up with your rubber bands: each wedge gets its own colour, the ribs keep the dyes from running into each other underneath, and the rim catches the drips. Unwrap it next day to a crisp six-colour spiral.

Preview of Pumpkin-carving kit box
By Krypto
Complexity
Multi-part assembly
MAIN PURPOSE: Keep pumpkin carving saws, scoops and pokers from one Halloween to the next
Pumpkin carving tools come out once a year and vanish in between. This box keeps the mini saws, the scoop, the poker and the pattern transfer pins in their own bays, with the template sheets laid on top under a pumpkin lid. Next October, they are all there.

Preview of Clay sculpting tool caddy
By Krypto
Complexity
Advanced
MAIN PURPOSE: Stand clay sculpting tools and sponges beside the pottery wheel
A wheel-side caddy for potters. Loop tools, ribs and needle tools stand upright in the tall tube, the sponge sits in a drained cup, and the tray holds the wire cutter and calipers. Clay hands find the right tool without looking away from the pot.

Preview of Acrylic-pour drip station
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Raise a canvas over a drip moat for acrylic pouring
A drip tray for acrylic pour painting. The canvas rests on a raised inner wall, so paint runs off the edges into the moat below instead of across the table. The cured skins peel out of the moat in one piece, ready to use in collage.

Preview of Lino-print ink slab and brayer rest
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Roll out block-printing ink and rest the inked brayer
A bench slab for lino and woodblock printing. Ink is rolled out evenly in the wide, shallow bay, and the inky brayer rests roller-up in the end trough instead of rolling off the table. The raised rim keeps the ink off your sleeve.

Preview of Stitch-marker dispenser
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Tip out knitting stitch markers one at a time
A pocket dispenser for knitters' stitch markers. They live in the round body, and a tilt brings one out through the hole in the top, so the whole bag doesn't spill onto the sofa. It is small enough to live in a project bag.
