Preview of Smart-bulb light switch guard
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Keep smart bulbs powered at the wall
Screws over a standard 86 mm light switch through the plate's own screw holes and hides the rocker, so nobody switches smart bulbs off at the wall and leaves them unreachable from the app. Two screws out and it is a normal switch again.

Preview of Blind cord safety cleat
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Keep blind cords out of children's reach
Fix this T-cleat at least 1.5 m up the window frame and wind the blind cord round its two horns in a figure of eight: the loops stay out of a child's reach, the safety rule for corded blinds and curtains. Drill two 3.5 mm holes through the base for screws.

Preview of Cabinet magnet catch block
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Add a magnetic catch to a cabinet door
Screw it inside the cabinet frame, press a 10 x 3 mm neodymium magnet into the centre socket and stick a steel washer on the door: a door that drifts open now closes with a quiet click. Fits where an old roller catch used to be.

Preview of Furniture anti-tip wall bracket
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Stop tall furniture tipping over
An L-bracket that ties a tall bookcase or chest of drawers to the wall so a climbing child cannot pull it over: one screw into the top of the furniture, one into a wall plug behind it. Use two per piece of furniture.

Preview of Outdoor tap frost cover
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Protect an outside tap from freezing
Slip it over an outside tap before the first frost, open side to the wall, stuff it with bubble wrap or wool and hold it with a bungee through the side holes: the tap stays above freezing, and the notch clears a pipe that runs down the wall.

Preview of Door casing rosette corner block
By Krypto
Complexity
Advanced
MAIN PURPOSE: Finish door trim corners without mitres
The square bullseye block that sits at the top corners of a period door frame, so the head and side mouldings simply butt into it instead of needing a perfect mitre. Three stepped rings form the turned bullseye; paint it with the woodwork.

Preview of Tile drilling guide with water ring
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Start holes in glazed tiles without skidding
Stick it on a glazed tile with double-sided tape, fill the inner ring with water and drill through the centre hole: the bit cannot skate across the glaze, and the water runs down to keep diamond and tile bits cool so they cut instead of burning.

Preview of Downpipe leaf strainer
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Keep leaves out of a gutter downpipe
Push it closed end up into the top of a 68 mm round downpipe where it leaves the gutter: rain pours in through the slotted walls and the holed top, but leaves, moss and lost balls stay up in the gutter to be scooped out, instead of blocking the pipe.

Preview of Plasterboard hole repair backer
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Back a plasterboard hole for filling
Backs a hole up to 70 mm in plasterboard: thread a string through the two centre holes, butter the edges with filler, feed the plate in diagonally and pull it tight behind the board. Tie the string to a pencil across the hole until it sets, then cut it and fill flush.

Preview of Sash window ventilation stop
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium (set)
MAIN PURPOSE: Limit how far a sash window opens
Screw one into each side of the sash frame 100 mm above the lower sash: the window still opens far enough for fresh air at night, but stops before a child can climb out or an arm can reach in. Counterbored holes sink the screw heads.
