Preview of Electrolysis rust-removal tank
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Strip rust off old tools overnight with washing soda and a battery charger
The restorer's secret for rusty tools. Fill the tank with water and a tablespoon of washing soda per litre, slide scrap steel plates into the slots at each end and connect them to the + clip of a 12 V battery charger. Hang the rusty tool from a rod through the two top holes and connect it to the - clip. Tiny bubbles start at once, and by morning the rust has turned to loose black flakes that wipe off, leaving the clean metal and even the stamped markings underneath untouched.

Preview of Screen-print squeegee rest
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Park an inky squeegee and catch the drips
A long drip tray for screen printers. The inked squeegee lies across the trough between pulls, a deep end well holds the ink pot or spatula, and the scooped front edge lets you scrape spare ink straight back into the well.

Preview of Mini Podium
By Krypto
Complexity
Multi-part assembly
MAIN PURPOSE: Grip a miniature and store its parts inside
A miniature painting handle with a storage chamber: fix the figure to the screw lid with a dab of putty and hold the 36 mm body like a thick pen, then unscrew it between figures to keep spare bases, magnets and a brush tip inside. It stands upright on its own while the paint dries.

Preview of Skewer Gallery
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Dry painted small parts without touching
Thread small painted parts, beads or model pieces onto bamboo skewers and lay the skewers across through the paired holes in the end walls: everything dries hanging in mid-air, touching nothing, the tray below catches drips, and four rods hold dozens of parts.

Preview of Paint tin rim wiper clip
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Wipe brushes without filling the lid groove
Clip it onto the rim of a paint tin: you wipe the brush on the arm, which hangs inside the tin, so the excess runs back into the paint instead of filling the lid groove. The lid then seals properly and no dried paint flakes fall in when you open it next time.

Preview of Profile sanding block
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Sand mouldings without rounding their profiles
One block with three working edges: a half-round bead for coves and flutes, a concave cove for round-overs and dowels, and a sharp 90 degree point for inside corners. Wrap a strip of sandpaper round the edge you need and the profile stays crisp instead of being rounded over by your fingers.

Preview of Cut-in edge shield
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Paint straight edges without masking tape
Hold the 220 mm straight edge against a ceiling line, skirting or window frame and paint right up to it: the shield keeps the brush off the next surface, faster than taping, and its handle keeps your knuckles out of the paint. Wipe the edge clean as you move along.

Preview of Knife-edge spray turntable
By Krypto
Complexity
Multi-part assembly
MAIN PURPOSE: Spray parts all round without touching them
Parts sit on eight thin ribs instead of a flat floor, so overspray never glues them down and their undersides stay clean; the base spins on BBs, so you turn the part while spraying instead of walking round it.

Preview of Sanding block with grip handle
By Krypto
Complexity
Advanced
MAIN PURPOSE: Sand flat surfaces by hand
Wrap a strip of sandpaper round the flat-bottomed block and hold it by the handle on top: the pressure spreads evenly, so you sand flat instead of rounding the edges.
