Preview of Anamorphic mirror art stand
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Draw distorted pictures that come right in a mirror cylinder
A stand for anamorphic art, the optical trick behind 18th-century mirror pictures. Wrap the central post in mirror film, then draw a stretched, curved picture on the board round it. It looks like nonsense on the paper but appears perfectly in the mirror. It is art and geometry in one.

Preview of Fossil dig casting mould
By Krypto
Complexity
Multi-part assembly
MAIN PURPOSE: Cast a plaster block with toy fossils for children to excavate
A mould for a home palaeontology dig. Toy dinosaur bones go in, plaster goes over them, and once set the block lifts out ready to be excavated with a brush and a spoon. DIG is moulded on the front. It is reusable for every birthday party.

By Krypto
Complexity
Advanced
MAIN PURPOSE: Run kitchen science experiments with eight test tubes
A home-lab rack for children's kitchen chemistry: red-cabbage indicator, density towers, crystal growing. Eight 16 mm test tubes stand in the top deck, the deep tray below catches drips, and KITCHEN LAB is raised across the front.

Preview of Rock-tumbler grit station
By Krypto
Complexity
Multi-part assembly
MAIN PURPOSE: Keep the four rock-tumbling grits apart so polish never gets contaminated
A grit station for rock tumbling. The four stages (coarse, medium, fine and polish) each have a numbered bay with a full-height wall between them, and the lid keeps out dust. Mixing grits is the commonest reason a batch comes out scratched; here every stage stays separate, in order, beside the tumbler.

Preview of Mushroom spore-print box
By Krypto
Complexity
Multi-part assembly
MAIN PURPOSE: Take spore prints of four mushroom caps undisturbed
A box for foragers and mycology fans to take spore prints. Lay a cap gills-down on paper in each of the four bays and close the lid overnight. Draughts can't smudge the prints, and spores from one cap can't drift onto the next, so the colours you get back are true for identification.

Preview of Meridiana
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: Mark solar noon and the season with a sun spot
A cathedral meridian line in miniature for a sunny windowsill. Turn the tall wall due south: at solar noon its pinhole throws a spot of sunlight onto the floor rib, and where the spot lands on the engraved marks tells the season, from the high June sun near the wall to the low autumn sun at the back.

Preview of FitzRoy Tower
By Krypto
Complexity
Medium
MAIN PURPOSE: House and read a storm glass weather vial
A tower for a 25 mm Victorian storm glass vial. The vial stands inside behind two tall windows, so light passes through and the crystals read clearly, and the side wall carries the old reading key: clear for fair, cloudy for rain, stars for cold and snow.

Preview of Fulcrum Stand
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Hold a balance beam on a knife-edge pivot
The pivot for a desk lever lab: a lambda frame of 9 mm legs rising to a rounded knife tip, standing on two foot bars. The Fulcrum Beam rests its arch on the tip, so the pivot sits above the beam and it swings and settles like a real balance. The tip also carries the Moonbalance crescent.

Preview of Fulcrum Beam
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Show balancing moments with coins and clips
A 249 mm balance beam whose central bridge arch sits on the Fulcrum Stand tip, 18 mm above the beam line so it always swings back level. Eight V notches at matched distances hold paper clips loaded with coins: put two coins at 32 mm and one at 64 mm on the other side and watch the moments cancel.

Preview of Voussoir Wedge
By Krypto
Complexity
Simple
MAIN PURPOSE: Build a self-supporting arch from nine blocks
One stone of a self-supporting arch: print nine of these 20 degree wedges, lay them over the Voussoir Centring, drop in the last as the keystone and pull the centring out. Nothing holds the arch but compression, exactly as in a Roman bridge. The hollow side faces the back.
