Two-cup water level

Carry a level line across a room or round a corner with two cups and a tube of water

Builders levelled the pyramids and the first houses with nothing but water, and it still beats a bubble level over long distances. Join two of these cups with any length of clear tube and fill them halfway: the water surface in both cups always sits at exactly the same height, wherever you put them. Hold one against your mark, then carry the other across the room, round a corner or to the far end of a fence, and mark where its water settles. Perfect for shelves, fences, patios and tiles.
