Three-water solar still
Turn salty, muddy and inky water into clean drops with sunshine
The desert-survival trick as a windowsill experiment. Pour salt water, muddy water and inky water into the three outer bays, stretch cling film over the rim and put a pebble in the middle. The sun evaporates the water, it condenses on the film, runs down to the low point under the pebble and drips into the centre cup clear and fresh, while the salt, mud and ink stay behind. The water cycle, made visible in one sunny afternoon.
