Shake-up ice-cream maker
Make ice cream in ten minutes of shaking with ice and salt
No machine needed. Pour 200 ml of cream, a spoon of sugar and a drop of vanilla into the centre cup. Pack the 20 mm jacket round it with crushed ice and two big spoons of salt, screw the lid on, wrap it in a tea towel and shake or roll it across the floor for ten minutes. Salt drops the melting point of the ice to about minus 10 degrees, cold enough to freeze the cream as it churns. SHAKE is raised on the front.
