Physarum Maze
Watch a slime mould solve a maze
A maze for the slime mould that out-planned Tokyo’s railway engineers. Pour a thin layer of agar, put a crumb of Physarum at the start and oat flakes at the finish, and close the lid; over a few days the yellow mould explores every lane, then withdraws from the dead ends and leaves one vein along the shortest route.
