Golden Angle

Hold pens of eight sizes apart on a phyllotaxis spiral

A pen pot whose top is a sunflower head: eight holes spiral out at 137.5 degrees, the angle plants use to pack seeds without gaps, and they grow from 7 mm for fine liners to 16 mm for brushes. Every pen gets its own hole, so tips never clash and the mix of sizes still packs tightly. Print it as shown, then turn it over so the floor becomes the top.
