Avalanche slope clinometer card

Measure slope angle for avalanche safety

Lay a ski pole down the slope, set the straight edge on it and let a cord with a nut hang from the corner slot: the notches read 25 to 50 degrees, with long marks at 30 and 45, so you know when a slope is steep enough to avalanche.
