Tortoise fridge-hibernation box

Hibernate a tortoise safely in a vented box in a dedicated fridge

Many reptile vets now recommend hibernating Mediterranean tortoises in a dedicated fridge, because it holds a steady 5 degrees where a garage or shed swings from freezing to warm. This box sits on the fridge shelf with a bed of soil or shredded paper; the vents on both sides let fresh air in, and the lid lifts off for the weekly weigh-in and to open the door for air. DO NOT DISTURB is raised on the front.

How to print it

Check with a reptile vet first. Use a fridge kept only for this, with a thermometer, and weigh the tortoise every week.

Prints as shown on its floor, no supports. The lid prints as a separate part, top down.

Filament: at most about 595 g of PLA printed solid (roughly $11.90 at $20 per kg); normal infill uses less.

To get the files, open it in the generator and choose File › Download STL (one file per part) or Download 3MF (every part on one plate).
