Saguaro-rib cachepot

Shade a potted plant with ribs that cast their own shadows, like a cactus

Saguaro cacti survive desert sun partly because their deep pleats shade their own skin. This cachepot borrows the trick: deep vertical ribs round the outside mean much of the surface is always in shadow, so the nursery pot inside stays cooler on a hot balcony. It also makes a striking sculptural pot.
