Phone-cam bird feeder

Feed garden birds while an old phone films them close up

Smart bird feeders with cameras cost a fortune; this one uses the old phone in your drawer. The seed tray sits in front of a covered garage where the phone stands with its camera behind a wide window, about a beak's length from the birds, and the lid keeps the rain off. Start a motion-triggered camera app, and you get close-up videos of every robin, tit and squirrel that visits. SMILE is on the front.

How to print it

PETG for outdoors. An old phone running a free motion-triggered camera app works well; run the cable out under the lid.

Prints as shown on its floor, no supports. Large holes in the walls may need supports or good bridging. The added base's lid prints separately.

Filament: at most about 182 g of PLA printed solid (roughly $3.64 at $20 per kg); normal infill uses less.

To get the files, open it in the generator and choose File › Download STL (one file per part) or Download 3MF (every part on one plate).
