Eureka overflow can for rock density
Measure rock volume and density by displacement
Fill the can until water runs from the spout, lower in a rock on a thread and catch the overflow in a measuring cylinder: that is the rock volume. Divide its weight by it and pupils can tell granite from basalt from a lump of pyrite by density alone.
